It was a quiet Tuesday evening at YOW! Thanks to our great taxi service (Barber Express), we were here ahead of the crowd, got through check-in, only to find over-priced beer and wine in what had to be the quietest bar in Ottawa, with limited TSN coverage and poor reception! With a total of 1 international departure after 7:00 PM, there is little reason for merchants to remain open. Our flight to Heathrow was the best kind, smooth and uneventful. We had the advantage of exit row seats with lots of space, excellent service from an experienced Air Canada crew in what was probably a flight at about 70% occupancy. Our flight time, projected to be only 6 hours and 2 minutes, ended up being closer to 7 hours as we flew circles over the English countryside awaiting the opportunity to land at a very congested Heathrow Airport.
There is something very special, once through Customs and having gathered luggage, at that first glimpse of one's daughter patiently awaiting your arrival! From the airport to Marlow is about a 30 minute drive, a chance for a quick catch-up before arriving at the house and our base for the next 17 days. The Brennan family has moved to a new home since we were last here; a great family-focused area of Marlow... still the great town! After arriving and getting a first glimpse, the overwhelming feeling of fatigue struck. As often happens on the long overnight flights with little sleep, all of a sudden a power nap becomes very important; freshly up from that important activity, we now anxiously await the arrival from school and daycare our precious grandchildren, who will be the focus of our next 17 days! The doorbell rings...Keira has arrived home from school...this blog entry quickly ends!
